Veil Vessel
A study in contrast, Veil Vessel pairs the permanence of ceramic with the intricacy of hand-crocheted cotton lace. The warm ivory textile is wrapped and composed directly over the sculptural form, leaving portions of the deep brown, semi-gloss ceramic exposed beneath its irregular openwork.
Rather than concealing the original vessel, the lace interrupts and reframes it. Subtle tonal variations and irregularities reveal the textile’s handworked character, while glimpses of the reflective ceramic beneath create a tension between delicacy and permanence.
Familiar elements become something singular—part vessel, part textile, part sculpture.
